A Top company - serving Peabody, MA

DuraFlex Fireplace Services Nationwide

Every visit starts with

Level 1 sweep and inspection to the NFPA 211 annual standard - flue, crown, cap, and flashing checked and photographed

Worth knowing

Chimney sweep logs do not sweep chimneys. They loosen some creosote - which then falls where a brush and vacuum still have to collect it.

DuraFlex Fireplace Services in Peabody: What to Know First

DuraFlex fireplace services in Peabody typically run $150-$340 for most repairs, and we complete the work same-visit in seven out of ten cases. We’re an independent DuraFlex service provider - not a factory arm - which means we quote the real price before a tool comes off the truck and we never push a liner replacement unless the camera footage shows one is needed.

How DuraFlex Products Fail - and How We Fix Them

DuraFlex makes solid chimney liners and venting, but every brand has its quirks. Here’s what we actually see in Peabody homes, including the houses on the West End and around Lowell Street where many of these systems were installed twenty-plus years ago.

  • DuraFlex 316L liner pitting near the appliance connector. The flexible 316L series holds up well against flue gases, but we regularly find small pinholes where the liner connects to a gas insert or furnace. Warm, slightly acidic condensate settles there in cold weather, and over time it eats through. The fix is usually a short connector section, not a full liner pull - unless the pitting runs more than a couple feet.
  • DuraFlex 304 liners stretched too thin on install. The 304 alloy is meant for wood-burning fireplaces, but a liner that was yanked hard during the original install can show ripple or thinning at the bends. In Peabody’s older chimneys with offset flues, that’s where creosote builds first. We inspect those bend zones with a camera before assuming a sweep alone will fix the problem.
  • DuraFlex DirectVent termination cap rust-through. The aluminum caps on some older DuraFlex direct-vent systems corrode faster in coastal air. Peabody sits close enough to the water that salt carries in the wind, and we see caps that look fine from the ground but are rusted through at the vent seam. A replacement cap is usually under $200 installed.
  • Gas fireplace pilot dropout on cold start. DuraFlex vent pipe for gas inserts can develop a slight internal misalignment if the fireplace was nudged or the vent shifted. That causes pilot blowout when the unit first kicks on in November. We run a draft test and realign the vent - it’s a one-hour fix most of the time, not a parts replacement.
  • Improper aftermarket adapters. Not all fireplace manufacturers accept a universal DuraFlex adapter, and we’ve seen more than one install where an aftermarket connector left a quarter-inch gap at the appliance collar. That gap leaks flue gas into the chase. We use the correct OEM collar or a properly sized aftermarket one and test the draft before we leave.

Our DuraFlex Fireplace Services Process

  1. 1
You call, a live person answers. That’s Wendell or someone who knows him personally - not a call center. We’ll ask what the fireplace’s doing and schedule a window that actually happens.
  2. 2
We show up, drop cloths go down. We inspect the fireplace, the venting, the damper, and the liner. If the chimney’s accessible, we run a camera down it. You watch the screen.
  3. 3
You get a plain-English verdict and a fixed price. We’ll tell you what’s wrong, what can wait, and what can’t. If the number we quote over the phone holds when we see the job, it holds. Period.
  4. 4
We make the repair with the right parts. For DuraFlex jobs, that means OEM connectors at the appliance collar where warranty matters, and quality aftermarket when it does not change the safety of the install. We’ll explain which is which.
  5. 5
We test, we clean, we show you the result. The camera footage comes out again if we did liner work. You see the before and after with your own eyes.
  6. 6
You get the 90-Day Done Right Promise in writing. If something’s not right, one call brings Wendell back at no charge. That’s been the rule since 1999.

What DuraFlex Fireplace Services Cost in Peabody

Here’s what Peabody homeowners can expect to pay for common DuraFlex service work:

  • Diagnostic inspection with camera: $129 inside the county (no trip charge)
  • Gas fireplace cleaning and service: $160-$240
  • Wood-burning fireplace sweep with camera report: $189-$260
  • Damper repair (new damper plate or cable): $140-$310
  • Firebox panel repair or replacement: $220-$520 depending on panel count
  • DuraFlex liner section replacement: $340-$650 for a short section
  • Full DuraFlex liner replacement, gas: $1,800-$2,900
  • Full DuraFlex liner replacement, wood-burning: $2,400-$3,800

What moves the price is access. A two-story liner job on a steep roof in West Peabody costs more than a ranch on a flat grade. A fireplace on a second floor adds scaffold time. The six-flue condominium additions along Route 1 have their own access quirks. Call (978) 637-8560 and we’ll give you a hard number before scheduling - no surprises at the door. $40 off any repair over $200 always applies, as does the 10% senior and veteran discount.

Why Peabody Homeowners Call Top Hat Chimney for DuraFlex Work

Wendell Pike started Top Hat Chimney in 1999, and he’s been inside north of a thousand chimneys since - more than a few of them behind the triple-deckers and capes in Peabody’s older neighborhoods. He’ll tell you when a DuraFlex liner has ten years left and when it has two. He’ll also tell you when a fireplace is fine and the job does not need doing. “If it does not need doing, I will tell you that too.”

There’s no sales commission on our truck. No quota for liner replacements. Every job is quoted up front, performed by Wendell and his uniformed crew, and backed in writing. We service DuraFlex, HeatShield, Gelco, and the other brands we carry - and if a competing estimate says you need work you’re not sure about, we’ll come give you a free second opinion. Ask anyone on your street.
